When Country Meets City - The Two Shall Become One

Country? City? How do I choose...?

Don’t worry - You don't have to!

So many people are seeking out venues with copious amounts of space and freedom to make it their own. However, some feel like you lose elegance or class. But not us! We think you can have both country and city! For example, Rolling Ridge is located an hour from the Twin Cities in Saint Joseph Minnesota, giving it the perfect distance between country and city. It provides 10 different ceremony spaces with a landscape that is second to none.

Ceremony site options

With multiple ceremony options, it allows for creativity to flow. So, if you choose a barn venue, it can easily be dressed up to feel like a fancy space in the city. Each place offering freedom to make it unique and special to you. Dress it up like a full western appeal, or keep it neutral toned for a more classy vibe.

Barns are great for receptions, but what if I still want that classy impression to last throughout the evening?

Draping. Draping can transform any space into the upscale, high class, most elegant room that you have always wanted. This couple chose to drape the barn poles and do a dramatic backdrop behind the head table for a flawless finish!

Our Go-To, Must Have, number one, All Time Favorites

Everyone has their own personal favorites, so after years of setting up many different weddings and events, we have come up with our favorites and we want to share them with you!

Arches: Nothing beats classic white curtains pulled back on a ceremony arch. If you want a little more character or color, we suggest adding a chandelier or some floral arrangements! There are so many options that go along with curtains that we have decided it is our number one choice when it comes to decorating your arch!

Draping: Whether it be in a tent, a hotel space, an outdoor pavilion or a magical event center; we love zig-zagging draping for the most elegant of looks!

Linens: Our go-to linen would have to be anything with color, texture, or shine. That's why we are in love with the sequin linens. When the light hits them in just the right way, Oh Man! It's GORGEOUS!

2. Find a backdrop

This can be something unique from your venue like a big window, art on the wall, stonework, or a big fireplace.

If nothing stands out...Choose your own statement like this taupe backdrop!

3. Add dimension

Use different heights and lengths in your wedding decor to create depth and visual appeal.

Another way to add dimension is a contrast color. Nothing too fancy or flamboyant (unless that's totally your cup of tea!), but something simple, like these greenery arrangements. It keeps your room looking lively and lifted rather than flat and dull.

Whats Trending?

Trends - do you take part in them? Or do you do your own thang? Whether you are all about the hype or want to run the other way, we are here to tell you what we think will be making an appearance in 2019.

1. Let's Talk About COLOR-

Twenty Eighteen was all about blush and taupe hues, pastels and greenery. But let me tell ya, 2019 has arrived and has come in full swing. As wedding plans are being established in these winter months, an appearance of bold and moody hues are being incorporated into dresses, flowers, decor and more.

As greenery is here to stay another year, we are seeing deep burgundy, intense turquoise, rich emerald and lots of navy sprinkled throughout the wedding day. These bold colors are often paired with soft tones like taupe or champagne accents.

2. It’s a blast from the past. The 90’s velvet is BACK! The smooth, comfy texture to the shine of the threads, velvet is becoming a headliner this wedding season.

Along with velvet making an appearance, we are also seeing a rise in chiffon fabric. Draped on tables, on an arch or on the ceiling, chiffon is soft and romantic and we are loving everything about it and its versatility.

3. Personalized - Out with the traditions, in with the unique.

In 2019 we are expecting to see a twist from your typical white ball gown, big princess wedding. Making a shift to smaller, more intimate weddings we will see couples matching their decor to their personality and character. Incorporating more activities, and things for guests to do, it will feel like a close family gathering.

4. Trendy Modern Venues -

Industrial spaces are in the running to compete with the rustic charm. As outdoor weddings will always remain popular, barns and vineyards will have to share the wedding spotlight with some modern industrial spaces.

5. Last but definitely not least - FLORALS

Flowers have been a part of weddings since the beginning, but the use of them has transformed immensely. Although flowers are still used on tables today, we are finding them hung from backdrops, chandeliers, the ceiling, floral walls and much much more. We aren’t complaining because who doesn’t love the smell of fresh flowers filling the air?
